York Forum invites Lucy Marstrand to the floor
We are delighted to announce that Lucy Marstrand was asked to be the first ever guest speaker for York’s Independent Walk Cycle Forum (YIWC). The forum was formed by the City of York Council, as well as several community groups, with the goal of engaging with local stakeholders to improve the quality of health and safety by promoting walking and cycling within the area. YIWC forum provides a platform to share ideas, knowledge, network and develop coordinated initiatives to promote the environment and healthier ways of living.
From city councillors to university scholars to bike shop representatives, many people of varying industries came to lend their insights and adapt their own thoughts and ideas to the collective knowledge displayed at the forum. Open to both officers, councillors and the public, this meant that a diverse group of people could collaborate and discuss their different positions.
November’s meeting had the headliner of Project Centre’s Healthy Streets Adviser Lucy Marstrand. She spoke about her area of expertise; walking, cycling and healthy streets discussing an action plan for delivery. Creating liveable streets is a fundamental part of Project Centre’s way of thinking. We are delighted to have visited the wonderful city of York and are grateful for this opportunity to engage with the impressive list of guests at the event.
