Rewilding with Project Centre at Tolworth Moated Manor
Last week, Project Centre attended a Corporate Rewilding event with Citizen Zoo. We travelled to Tolworth Moated Manor, a wildlife reserve home to kestrels, herons, badgers and more. There we helped pave the way for a new fencing system to facilitate the introduction of grazing animals. In turn, they will maintain the reserve by tearing up the turf which will allow wildflowers to grow . In doing so, other animals will be attracted to the area and the ecological landscape will improve.
Equipped with shovels, mattocks and saws, we set to work clearing brambles and brush that had overgrown along the edges of the reserve. Under the rare winter sunshine, we made great headway and we our very proud of all we accomplished in a single day.
Moated Manor often lacks sufficient funding and therefore thrives off the cooperative effort of volunteers. Citizen Zoo is dedicated to re-engaging with nature and teaching the importance of conservation work with their own hands on approach. Keep an eye out for any events near you and help rewild London.
