Project Centre Secure Luton Borough Council Deal with VolkerHighways
Project Centre is once again supporting VolkerHighways, this time with Luton Borough Council on the Highway Maintenance, Major Projects and Professional Services contract. The contract, which commenced on 1 January 2017, combines DfT’s HMEP contracting model with an innovative approach to work. It will run for ten years, with a possible five years of extensions, totalling a lifetime value of approximately £200 million.
This new collaboration includes both major projects and professional design services, which will be delivered in association with Project Centre as design partner.
The new contract supports the Council’s wider corporate objectives; including an asset management based approach to infrastructure delivery and is available for use by neighbouring authorities. The contract will deliver annual efficiency savings and significant value in terms of employment, training and skills for Luton.
Keith Hanshaw, managing director of Project Centre said: “This is another great win for VolkerHighways and Project Centre, which sets out a model for working collaboratively across design and delivery of schemes to ensure innovation and value engineering to local authorities.”
Alistair Thompson, managing director of VolkerHighways said: “VolkerHighways is delighted to have secured this new contract which will strengthen the current relationship we have with Project Centre. We look forward to our respective teams working together in close collaboration on this contract for the next ten years.”
