Project Centre helping Birmingham City to improve Cost and Risk Management
Project Centre has been helping Birmingham City Council to review service operations to determine whether any improvements could be made to their processes for cost estimation and management of project risks. We’ve worked with their talented delivery teams to consider ways in which lifecycle project risk management could be improved, and how their quality management systems could support this process. Our team gathered baseline information on what processes are currently used and consulted extensively with delivery teams to identify perceived constraints and develop ideas for how systems could be enhanced to better control major infrastructure project costs.
Our findings have been well received and we are now preparing detailed plans for delivery of our recommendations, which include suggestions for improving the accuracy of first stage estimates, early identification of bespoke project risks, more opportunities for early contractor involvement and enhanced resourcing to maintain robust systems for programme management.
