Lucy Marstrand and Ben Stutman to talk at the Transport Practitioners Meeting 2020
For nearly 20 years, TPM has been at the forefront of forums dedicated to allowing transport professionals to debate, discuss and share their ideas and practices. The conference is centred around transport planning as a tool for growth and positive change. It is then of course a great pleasure to announce that Lucy Marstrand, our Walking & Cycling Lead, and Ben Stutman, a Transport Planner at Project Centre, will be speaking at this event. Based on his Masters, Ben’s presentation provides an analysis of the recent trend of declining young drivers in the UK. He will offer insight into why driving is of less interest and importance to younger generations. Lucy’s talk is entitled ‘Cycle design guidance: who are we designing for?’. This will discuss the move towards more inclusive design standards seen in the newly published Cycle Design Guidance LTN 1/20 (Lucy was on the Department for Transport’s expert Steering Group for this publication) and a look at what this means for children, women and older people and how it compares to the London guidance. Lucy will also highlight some gaps in transport planning for children cycling in the emergency COVID plans.
We are excited to once again be in attendance of this annual meeting and thrilled to see two of our own given the chance to speak about the subjects they are professionally passionate about. The conference will be conducted online on the 2nd and 3rd September with dedicated breakout rooms for peer discussion. We can’t wait to become a part of these important conversations.
