Kensington Memorial Park
Kensington Memorial Park was completely redesigned and rebuilt as part of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea’s ‘10 Year Parks Strategy’.
Project Centre was identified as a consultant with the skills and resources required to implement the new children’s play area which incorporated an ambitious water play zone and changing facility.
The concept design was created by Robert Petro Associates and then developed to detailed design stage by Project Centre. This involved all the landscape architectural and engineering detailing and specification allowing bills of quantity to be produced.
UPM Tilhill was appointed as the main contractor and Project Centre undertook the role of contract administrator for all the works including the substantial changing and servicing building attached to the water play zone. Trees and shrubs and a co-ordinated range of sustainable hardwood furniture were used throughout the site for the comfort of parents and carers as well as the children.
The play area opened in the autumn of 2007 and is proving to be a great success with the local community.
