Improvement works in Strood, Commercial Road car park/Tolgate Lane
A celebratory ‘Love Strood’ event took place on Monday 28 August to mark the completion of the Local Growth Fund improvement works at Commercial Road car park/Tolgate Lane.
In 2015, Medway Council successfully secured Local Growth Funding for Strood town centre aimed at improving traffic flow and movement throughout the area and public realm improvements to create a sense of place within Strood.
The car park was opened by the Mayor and the event was also attended by the Leader of the Council Alan Jarrett, Councillors Rodney Chambers, Phil Filmer and Jane Chitty and representatives from SELP who were very pleased to see completion of one of the first SELP funded projects.
We worked closely with council officers from conception to construction to deliver this transformational improvement which provides a new public space, a more attractive market place, better parking and a more friendly and safer link between the High Street and retail parks.
The next stages of the project are in-hand with the main High Street improvement works due to start mid-September 2018.
This is an exciting start to the project and the success is down to all involved in the project.
