Hammersmith Grove Wins Award
We are very happy to say that our own Elise Lim, and the Hammersmith Bid team, were awarded Best Healthy Streets Business Improvement District Project of 2018. They secured this victory with their Parklets project, an impressive initiative to deliver green spaces and cleaner air while promoting cycling. Project Centre collaborated with Hammersmith and Fulham Council, Medidata and the Mayor of London to provide four parklets, four electric parking bays, as well as a dockless cycle space.
Prior to the works on Hammersmith Grove, it was a one-way road with parking on either side. The changes have transformed the street from a parking and car dominated street to a lush leafy green sanctuary for nearby office workers and residents. Across from the site is Lyric Square, where weekly markets attract crowds. Because of this, there will be many who will now benefit from the improvements made. As one of several projects under Hammersmith’s Low Emission Neighbourhood initiative, we can expect to see a marked reduction in pollution and an increase in public enjoyment. Project Centre was involved from the Neighbourhoods of the Future funding bid through to detailed design and implementation of the parklets.
Congratulations to Elise and the Hammersmith Bid team for their victory. We would also like to congratulate all those who took part in the awards and hope to see you all next year.
