CCTV Enforcement Audit
Project Centre was commissioned to undertake an audit of all regulatory signs in the London Borough of Harrow, with the purpose of checking compliance to the signing regulations and corresponding Traffic Regulation Orders, in order that compliant sites could subsequently be enforced through CCTV in terms of moving traffic contraventions.
Harrow is a suburb of North West London and is widely known for Harrow School, an exclusive boy’s school attended by many past famous names including Winston Churchill. Harrow is served by the London Underground Metropolitan line, and numerous overground stations into Central London, and has good road links to the A40/M40, M25 and M1.
Project Centre’s involvement included a comprehensive audit and review of all signs, road markings and corresponding Traffic Regulation Orders at sites across the borough where regulatory signing was in place to ban turns, prohibit movement, restrict access etc. All data was photographed and recorded onto site collation sheets for subsequent incorporation into signing schedules. Specific remedial signing schedules were also produced to highlight problems and maintenance issues.
The final output from the project was a comprehensive report with corresponding layout drawings showing sign locations, with appendices containing the signing and remedial schedules. The report enabled Harrow Council to identify which junctions and locations could be enforced in terms of moving traffic contraventions through CCTV, and which sites could be enforced if remedial measures were applied.
